As ordered by the State Water Board, the City of Anderson requires that all construction projects implement Best Management Practices (BMP's) to keep dirt and construction wastes out of public waterways. Public waterways include streams, lakes, rivers, canals, drainage ditches, and gutters. Construction projects disturbing one or more acres of land, are regulated by the Water Board’s Construction General Permit (CGP). The City reviews project Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans for compliance with the CGP.
For projects less than one acre, during the construction permitting process the City requires water pollution control in accordance with pages 800 & 810 of the City Construction Standards. All Public Works inspectors inspect their projects to ensure adequate BMP's are in place to prevent pollutants from leaving the construction site and entering public waterways.
